I don't tend to sing too openly in lab except to my cells and mice, but that's different because I'm trying to inspire them to work in my experiment (or at least not die - hey, at this point I have to set the bar low so I can feel good about something...) and they tend not to judge me too harshly or complain much about my pitchiness...
I do, however, listen to a lot more music in the lab. 'Course I use headphones so I don't disturb anyone else, but it helps. And while Respect is on my regular rotation, I'm finding my musical tastes becoming alarmingly heavy and angry.
Slayer? Yup. Typo-O negative? Yup. Gwar? Sadly, yes. Mixed in with Nelly Furtado, Flogging Molly, Gap Band, and the Yeah yeah yeahs....
No I'm not in a happy place, but at least it keeps me going. Another day, another dollar...
I kind of want a post where you say you just starting singing this in the lab. I mean might as well, right? I really feel for you.
